The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – Hormones for Contest Prep (Part I)

Have you ever wondered what a female steroid cycle looks like?

Let me grab your hand, and for a few minutes, welcome you into the peculiar, mysterious world of female bodybuilding.

Even though hormone usage is spreading mostly among physique competitors and avid gym-goers, few women are guided by professionals who prioritize their health and well-being.

Today, I’m going to talk about contest prep, steroids, and the benefits you get that will give you a competitive advantage.

And as I said above, steroid usage is not limited to female bodybuilding. The popularity of these drugs is increasing because of their classifications as “female friendly”, and the results and benefits are nothing but clear. Many women want to easily lean out, gain definition, and sculpt their figure. Even though this is achievable just through a great regimen and a balanced diet, many people use them to gain that extra edge on top of those two things.

I want to give you the full picture in this article, that’s why I’m splitting this article into two.

In the second part of this article, I’ll talk about the negative (and sometimes scary) side effects of steroids.

But right now, let’s dive deep into the positives and benefits of hormones, and what we can learn about them that will make sure we have a great experience using them.

Before we start, we need to know four things.

These four things separate a woman’s cycle from a man’s cycle.

Our bodies function differently – first of all, testosterone is not necessary for a woman’s cycle. It’s not physiologically required for our survival, so we only need small amounts of it, whereas for men, it’s in the foundation of their masculinity, and it’s usually the first steroid they go for.

Second, you should avoid anabolic stacks – a stacking of different steroids means compounding the androgenic effects leading to sometimes irreversible side-effects.

Third, there is no post-cycle therapy (PCT) needed for female steroid users. The purpose of PCT is to bring the body back to its normal and natural levels of endogenous Testosterone production and HPTA function.

And fourth, your cycle length must be kept short (around 4 weeks) if you want to avoid the risk of said side effects.

With that being said, we can now dive into the good stuff!

The Benefits of Hormones in Contest Prep (and there sure are a few.)

In the vast landscape of new fitness companies that produce new alternatives for every product, three names are usually in the foundation of their chemical build-up.

The top picks for women’s steroids are Clenbuterol, Anavar, and Winstrol.

Starting off with Clenbuterol, it’s a little different than most other steroids because it’s labelled a stimulant.

It essentially raises your body temperature and turns your body into a calorie-burning factory!

Here are the main two big benefits of Clen;

  • Helps you burn fat like crazy
Clenbuterol will help you reduce fat more than other similar fat burners (like ephedrine) The reason for this is Clen is thermogenic – meaning it increases your metabolic energy and speeds up your heart rate. That causes an increase in metabolic activity and body temperature, which in turn sheds the fat off your body. Athletes often use illegally use Clenbuterol as a fat-loss drug during cutting cycles. Women also respond better than men to this hormone and will burn more fat and calories than them.
  • Helps you build and keep muscle
This hormone speeds up your recovering process. It causes rapid rehabilitation of your muscle cells and induces muscle growth by increasing protein synthesis. Studies suggest that the effect of Clen is muscle-specific and benefits fast-twitch muscles more than their counterpart. Studies have proven an increase in power output, hypertrophy, and a decrease in fat mass in those cycling Clen.

Even though Clen seems like a powerful tool, we can’t forget it’s still illegal in most parts of the world (including the United States), and its nature as a stimulant comes with its own harmful effects that we’ll learn more about in Part II.

Next is the drug classified as “the women’s steroid” – Anavar.

One thing you should know is that Anavar was created in the 60s with the goal of keeping a patient’s muscle if they were suffering from a wasting disease.

Since then, it has come a long way and is one of the most well-regarded steroids in the fitness community when it comes to preserving muscle, dieting hard, and getting lean as.

Here are some of the benefits of Anavar that make it such a desirable choice:

  • Preserves Muscle
Anavar is famous for its ability to help you maintain muscle while being on a caloric deficit. The biggest problem people have when dieting is losing their lean muscle too, and Anavar enables you to solve that problem. As you lower and lower your calorie intake, the hormone will protect your body and make sure that you don’t lose your muscle along with the fat.
  • Better Recovery
Preserving your muscle is crucial for post work out recovery. If you use Anavar, you will be able to recover faster.
  • Burns Fat Faster
This might be a little misleading. No steroid can technically burn fat, but Anavar gives you the impression of fat-burning. The reason for that is that it doesn’t aromatase estrogen so your gains are dry and it may help speed up your thyroid due to reducing globulin. It helps your body use the fat for energy, more efficiently. There are many studies which show it’s also great for shifting stubborn fat around the abdominals.
  • Increase Lean Muscle Mass
you cannot say the same for men that use Anavar – they mainly use it for cutting down. However, taking Avanar provides great benefits for women like hardening and increasing the lean muscle mass, and an increase in strength output.

Anavar, just like Winstrol, is a mild but effective steroid that is sure to give you a performance advantage on and off stage. The problem here lies in their side effects caused by their androgenic properties. More on that in Part II.

Now, a lot of people in the fitness community might think Winstrol and Anavar are two pretty identical steroids, science proves that NOT to be the case.

Winstrol, especially in a female cycle, is known for adding more lean muscle mass than Anavar.

And Winstrol is also known for being hard on your joints, whereas Anavar is a tolerated better as a steroid.

Both of them are really powerful tools for cutting on a prep, and it’s up to the individual to decide which one to use based on their few (but notable) differences.

Here are the top 3 benefits of Winstrol in my opinion;

  • Gives you a leaner look
Winstrol helps you appear more muscular without the added bulking of your muscle, so it’s perfect for athletes approaching a competition. It enhances the growth of your muscles and helps you develop more strength and endurance while working out.
  • Does not lead to water retention
Unlike other anabolic steroids, Winstrol does not lead to water retention. Retaining water is not a good look on stage, and it can sabotage your lean and sexy look. Winstrol helps you dry out, and it’s the perfect addition to an excellent leaning diet.
  • Enhances endurance
Winstrol helps your body regenerate red blood cells. These cells carry oxygen to different parts of your body – including your muscles. An increase in your red blood cells leads to better endurance during workouts. It also speeds up your recovery, so you can train long and hard and experience less fatigue.

So, we now see the prominent and powerful effects of anabolic steroids for women – and you might think the results are worth the sacrifices.

However, before you jump on a cycle, read Part II of this article to get both sides of the story.

I believe that it doesn’t matter if you’re competing in women’s bodybuilding, women’s physique, bikini, or you’re just a regular gym-goer who wants to see what their body is capable of – in the right doses, these hormones can do wonders for your body. It’s the women that have the proper help and use them responsibly that end up having a positive experience.

So if you want to learn more about the adverse side effects of these drugs…

On to Part II
